10.  You are in control of your health care first. Then your doctor.

9. Ask if your health provider has a patient advocate service. Register.

8. Ask where the scans and xrays are kept. Introduce yourself to the clerk

7. Get an original copy of all test results.

6. Only send copies of test results. Keep original.

5. Know that hospitals are bureaucracies. Things get lost.

4. Don’t believe that no news is good news

3. Ask politely for your Dr.’s “best” email address

2. Call daily after Day 5

1. Wait 3-5 business days and then call for test results
